The Florida Airports Council (FAC) is the trade association representing Florida’s publicly owned and operated airports and the professionals and industry partners who support them. Established in October 1969 as the Florida Airport Managers Association (FAMA), the Council was created to unite Florida’s aviation community, address industry challenges and advance the future of the state’s airport system.
Today, FAC brings together a diverse community representing all 21 of Florida’s commercial service airports, more than 70 publicly owned general aviation airports, Cecil Airport as a spaceport, Tavares Seaplane Base, and more than 300 corporate, educational, associate, and student members. FAC is the only organization in Florida dedicated exclusively to representing the collective interests of the airport industry and addressing the unique issues facing Florida’s airports.

FAC advances this mission by serving as a unified voice for Florida’s airports, providing opportunities for education and professional development, fostering collaboration across the aviation community, and promoting policies and investments that strengthen Florida’s aviation system.
Advocacy & Industry Leadership
FAC plays a vital role in representing the interests of Florida’s airports at the state and federal levels. With a full-time presence in Tallahassee, the Council works closely with the Florida Department of Transportation, Governor’s Office, state agencies and other policymakers to ensure the priorities and needs of Florida’s airports are understood and addressed.
FAC members also engage directly with legislators and federal partners in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C., including the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration. Through proactive advocacy and industry promotion, FAC works to advance policies, funding and infrastructure investments that support safe, efficient and resilient airports.
The Council also works to communicate the vital role aviation plays in Florida’s economy, connectivity and quality of life. By elevating the importance of continued investment in Florida’s aviation infrastructure, FAC helps ensure that policymakers, industry stakeholders and the public understand the value of a strong and thriving airport system.
Education, Professional Development & Workforce
FAC is committed to helping aviation professionals grow throughout their careers. Through its annual conference and exposition, Education & Training Summit, webinars, online member forum, and Professional Committee programming, FAC provides opportunities to learn from industry experts, share best practices, explore emerging issues and build valuable professional connections.
The Florida Airports Council Education Foundation extends this commitment by supporting education and the development of the next generation of aviation professionals. Together, FAC and the Education Foundation help strengthen Florida’s aviation workforce and prepare future leaders to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
