FAC provides scholarships and internships for full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are attending accredited colleges or universities in Florida and are pursuing degrees in airport administration or closely related fields.
Mission
The Mission of FAC's Educational Programs is twofold: (1) to further the professionalism of FAC members so they may better perform their duties and (2) to financially and professionally assist students pursuing careers in airport management!
FAC prepares, promotes, publishes and distributes educational materials; conducts educational and training programs; conducts educational research; and encourages aviation education and the advancement of the airport management profession through scholarships to deserving students.
Scholarships
In 2011, FAC provided $9,500 in scholarships to students attending FAC Educational Member Universities. FAC currently has four educational members – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Everglades University, Florida Tech and Lynn University. Other Florida colleges and universities with four year degree programs in airport management are eligible to become educational members, which qualifies their students to participate in the scholarship program.
Internships
In 2007, FAC, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, initiated its Internship Grant Program providing grants to airports to help pay interns to work at FAC member airports. This program benefits the intern by giving him/her practical experience. It benefits the airports by giving them additional manpower to achieve the mission of the airport and benefits the Florida Aviation System by training future generations of airport managers and professional staff.
